Job Description

The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians.   • Two Senior Planning Officer roles are available.

About the role:

  • The Senior Planning Officer will identify and manage a wide variety of development and planning strategies and processes for the System Planning unit to support the design and implementation of new and expanded services within the reformed mental health and wellbeing system.
  • The role will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the Division, sector partners and a range of program and policy areas within the department.

  • The role will support broader system design and planning initiatives, analysis and decision support activities that enable the delivery of key reforms to the mental health and wellbeing system.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Providing high quality analysis, authoritative advice and sound recommendations based on consistent evidence-based approaches to planning for the future mental health and wellbeing system.

  • Monitoring and reporting on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.

  • Representing the department on key governance and stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes.

  • Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.

  • Supporting cross-functional engagement on matters relating to system planning to enable delivery of departmental policies and reforms.

  • Preparing complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language and ensures that appropriate style and formats are used.
