Medical Registrar

(Permanent – Part-Time / Full-Time)

8 hours to 43 hours per week

Bass Coast Health is seeking to attract Medical Registrars who are keen to provide medical care to the Gippsland South Coast community. Bass Coast Health is located in some of the most beautiful coast line of Victoria, situated 120kms south east of Melbourne. This is a rapidly growing Health Service which is designated as a sub-regional service and is currently constructing a vibrant and significantly expanded service, including a new Emergency Department and Operating Suites.

This position provides exposure and experience to enable the doctor to attain the required skills and knowledge as a Medical Registrar. The Medical Registrar assists in the management of medical and admitted inpatients.


This position entails rotating AM, PM, weekends and night duty (ND) shifts at BCH acute medical ward, including admission and management of patients admitted to the acute medical ward beds under the supervision of the senior medical staff doctor on duty in the acute medical ward, and responding to MET calls and Code Blues.


This position will also be responsible for the management of patients admitted under the medical ward consultant to the Infusion and Treatment Unit (ITCU) and Hospital in the Home (HITH). The position will also provide clinical support to the haemodialysis unit under the supervision of Monash Nephrology and the acute medical consultant. There is also exposure to subspecility units with the registrar providing consults with the visiting infectious disease consuktant and the gastroenterology clinics.


The Registrar will play an active role in supervising HMO and medical students on the acute medical ward. This is an unaccredited registrar role.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current Medical Indemnity Insurance
  • Relevant certified qualifications
  • Working with Children’s check (Victorian)
  • Police check dated within a year of first presentation to BCH
  • Current Immunisation and supporting evidence
  • 100 Points of certified Identification
  • CV with two relevant and recent references or referee contact details
  • Provider and Prescriber Number

Salary packaging is available to all part time and full-time employees of BCH.
