Senior Legal Counsel international retailer

We are working with an international retailer who are seeking a senior legal counsel to join their team based in Reading.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial contracts, ideally in a consumer facing environment. This role will involve providing legal advice and support across all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to various departments.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Manage and mitigate legal risks by developing and implementing effective policies and procedures.
• Liaise with external legal advisors and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
• Stay updated on relevant legal developments and ensure the business is informed of any changes that may impact operations.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal matters and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Qualified solicitor/barrister with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience.
• Extensive experience in commercial contracts
• Strong knowledge of UK law.
• Proven ability to manage complex legal issues and provide strategic advice.
• Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Experience in the retail or consumer goods sector is preferred.
