I am partnered with an International FMCG firm, who are going through an exciting period of growth. Through a steady and consistent growth in market share they have seen their procurement function double within the last 18 months solely, and they are now seeking to take on 3 Procurement Category Buyers to join their established team.

With a multitude of accolades – from “Top 100 Graduate Employer” to “Best Apprenticeship Employer” – they are renowned for their development programme, helping to solidify your end-to-end procurement experience. As such, previous placements have been ready to step into category management positions within 2 to 3 years. In addition to this, my client is offering CIPS sponsorships to consolidate your academic procurement knowledge alongside your practical experience.

The roles sit within their Indirect Procurement team, focusing primarily on their Soft Facilities and Consumables procurement activity, and reports directly into the National Procurement Manager. There is a wide remit for internal movements between teams facilitating exposure to an array of categories, once you are established within the company.

As a Procurement Category Buyer your role will be to:

  • Support the end-to-end procurement across their Soft Facilities or Consumables sub-category and deliver on a number of traditional procurement activities – including but not limited to sourcing, contracting, supplier relationship management, and award recommendations.
  • Collaborate with pivotal stakeholders to identify the company’s needs and support the consequential development of effective category management strategies.
  • Unlock opportunities for commercial growth through market and spend data analysis, presenting your findings to assist in category planning and sourcing strategizing.

You must have a strong academic background, having studied to A-Level standard, but ideally have obtained a degree. However, strong experience working within an end-to-end procurement function in a Buyer, Purchasing Assistant, Graduate Co-ordinator/Officer, Procurement Administrator or related Procurement role is essential, this would ideally have been acquired within a Retail or FMCG environment, but this is not a pre-requisite.
