About The Opportunity


Programmed are currently seeking an experienced Electrical/Communications Estimator to join our dynamic Electrical Technologies team in Port Melbourne, VIC. This integral role will see you excel and develop your skillset with a high performing team that complete Electrical, Comms/Data and AV projects. In this role, you will contribute to the team by working end-to-end to prepare quality estimates and submissions for Electrical and Communications related construction/fit out/infrastructure projects, this role provides the opportunity be part of the design and pricing phase, as well as attending tender interviews and facilitating contract negotiations.

Key Responsibilities



  • Analyse tender invitations, supplied documentation (schematics, plans, specifications and architectural designs) along with any project specific standards

  • Provide quantity take-off and estimating support for various projects and ensuring accurate and competitive proposals

  • Participate in meetings with SME’s to gather information for tender preparations

  • Identify risks and potential commercial opportunities in generating a scope of works statement to clearly define what works are included

  • Compile a thorough list of clarifications – assumptions/exclusions

  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders

  • Engage in tender reviews

  • Participate in continual learning through attending courses and industry events


About you


To be successful in this role, you will have experience in Electrical/Communications Estimating, unwavering motivation for delivery, and a natural aptitude for first-class stakeholder engagement. Additionally, you will demonstrate and possess the following:



  • A Grade Electrical License

  • Open Cabling License

  • Previous experience as an Electrical and/or Communications Estimator or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of current Standards (AS/NZS 3000)

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and drawings

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Experience in the use of estimating software packages. Contest Intellibid preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Construction industry

  • Sales & business development skills
