Avocado Category Manager (Mpumalanga Region)

Pure Legacy (Pty) Ltd, is in search of a proactive and dynamic Avocado Category Manager to join their growing team in the Mpumalanga region. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of avocado varieties, market trends, and supply chain dynamics. Essential skills for this position include strong interpersonal, organizational, technical, commercial, and negotiation abilities. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key to ensuring that the avocado category aligns with the company's financial and strategic goals. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute avocado sourcing strategy based on market trends, seasonality, and quality requirements Identify and onboard new avocado suppliers and maintain relationships with existing ones Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to ensure competitive terms Conduct supplier evaluations and audits for quality and sustainability compliance Maintain rigorous quality control throughout procurement Collaborate with quality assurance teams to uphold avocado standards Coordinate avocado logistics for timely delivery to facilities Manage inventory and optimize stock rotation for freshness Monitor avocado market trends, pricing, and supply chain risks Develop risk mitigation strategies for disruptions Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement with business goals Provide regular reports on avocado procurement and market conditions. Requirements: Matric required, with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; Minimum of 5 years' experience in avocado or fresh produce procurement, with a strong understanding of agricultural supply chains; Familiarity with quality control standards and regulations related to fresh produce; Fluency in both Afrikaans and English; Willingness to travel and visit producers within the Northern grower regions.
