As an Early Careers Pastoral Coordinator at Bellway you will play a vital role in nurturing and supporting our graduates, apprentices, and trainees throughout their development journey. This role is key in ensuring the wellbeing, engagement, and success of our early careers cohorts.

The Role

The role is responsible for providing ongoing pastoral care and acting as the primary point of contact for guidance and support for our graduates, apprentices and trainees, whilst on a program of learning. This includes managing the relationship with our third-party learning providers, acting as safeguarding lead and tracking and monitoring individual progress and outcomes.

This role works collaboratively with the wider HR team in organising and attending relevant networking events, promoting the business as an employer of choice, and representing our brand across relevant institutions and educational establishments.

Principal accountabilities of the Early Careers Pastoral Co-Ordinator role include:

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with existing stakeholders including divisional management teams and third-party training & development partners.
  • Monitor and regularly report on progress of all Early Careers colleagues within the business.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of annual Apprentice and Graduate assessment centres and interviews.
  • Coordinate enrolments and onboarding processes for new graduates, apprentices, and trainees whilst monitoring and managing enrolment schedules, ensuring timely registration and attendance.
  • Liaise with education providers, colleges, and universities to ensure smooth communication and alignment of learning programmes.
  • Develop and implement engagement initiatives to motivate and involve early careers employees.
  • Recognise and celebrate achievements, both academic and professional, through events, awards, and internal communications.
  • Attend and contribute to regular progress meetings and calls with early careers employees and their line managers.
  • Track and manage the progress of each individual, identifying any areas of concern or improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain records of performance reviews, development plans, and feedback sessions.
  • Act as the Safeguarding Lead for early careers employees, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate and provide support for any additional learning needs, working closely with education providers to arrange appropriate resources and assistance.
  • Support current and new initiatives designed to diversify our talent pools for Early Careers positions, as part of the Groups wider ED&I strategy, such as the Change 100 programme and Women into Housebuilding.
  • Support activities designed to build an employer of choice brand and to attract future talent cohorts. This will include; coordinating and attending relevant early careers events across the UK as required.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • Previous work experience in a pastoral or coordination role, preferably within a training, education, or early careers environment.
  • Experience of applying of safeguarding practices and additional learning needs support.
  • Experience of supporting with the development and delivery of Early Career training programmes.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship frameworks, including the ability to navigate and align programs with industry standards and educational requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant funding streams such as CITB would be advantageous.

Skills and Aptitude

  • Excellent administration and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young professionals.
  • Excellent listening skills, with the ability to deal with a range of internal and external stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Passion for supporting the growth and development of early careers talent.
  • Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.

The Role and Working Conditions

  • Willing to be flexible in respect to day-to-day duties and hours worked.
  • Office based role, Monday to Friday (flexible working with 1 remote day available).
  • Core hours and agile working options available. Applications for part time working will be considered (4 days)
