Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.


Scope of the Role:

This role will focus on the development and delivery of the Seating System Product, using System Engineering Methods and Tools. The Seating Systems Engineer will be responsible to deliver our functional systems artefacts according to the programmes needs and aligned with Network Releases milestones. The Seating Systems Engineer will own its systems from requirements creation, up until full delivery of the system across vehicle programmes.

Dimension of function:

Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D) is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on projects and programmes for our clients. For this position particularly key duties will be within:

Vehicle Seating Systems Functional and Non-Functional Analysis - carry out a range of analysis and investigations of the customer requirements to define the expected system functionality and their performance targets.

System Design Specification prepare models and system requirements specification and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements.

Embed feature system design into the solution design (network, electrical and physical architecture) for specific vehicle seat system packages - Liaise with architecture teams to maintain alignment with the specified programmes.

Verification and Validation support the development of system and physical part integration tests.

Lead cross-functional technical reviews.

Adhere to the defined systems engineering processes.

Act as technical coach and team builder.

Collaborate with stakeholders, from product owner, scrum master, squad members, attributes, human factors, sub-systems, software, testing teams.

Be proactive and take initiative to improve in all aspects, from methods and tools to team collaboration.


Areas of Responsibility:

Delivery of Seating systems across the range of our customers vehicles, through robust requirements.

Refine and verify functional requirements through models, using MBSE framework.

Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Functional Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.

Acquire technical expertise in complex systems and tools and processes. E.g. Logical Architecture Diagram (LAD), Functional System Requirements Document (FSRD), Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), Requirements cascade, Requirements tools, Systems application onto programmes.

Contribute to continuous improvement activities E.g., Resolution of quality concerns and prevent recurrence activities, together with System Leaders, test engineers and SME.

Support squad members, technical specialists and SMEs through knowledge sharing.

Buy into the system engineering process, methods and tools and take a consistent approach for the squad.

Have a deep understanding of Agile mindset and support squad ceremonies.

Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.


Knowledge / Experience:


Essential:

Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector.

Technical knowledge of Systems Engineering, V-Model, Systems Integration, Systems Architecture, Requirements management.

Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance.

A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes.

Model based engineering (MBE) knowledge.

Requirements Management (RM) knowledge.

Good verbal and written communications.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Degree qualified and equivalent experience preferred.


Desirable:

Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders.

Some physical product development and delivery experience, desirable if within the seating sector.

Knowledge of tools such as DOORS/RTC/JIRA/3DX /Matlab.

Trained/ Experienced using Agile mindset and Agile planning tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Understanding of project planning and delivery to plan.

Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML using Matlab & Dassault Systems (or similar).

Experience of integrated vehicle electrical test systems and strategies and diagnostics.

  • Full driving license.
