We have an exciting opportunity for an Inspector Electrical to join the Programme Delivery function at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Capital Programme focuses on the creation and delivery of key operational assets and is a complex and critical part of the delivery of Yorkshire Waters long-term 10 Year strategy.

Capital Programmes of work carried out with Yorkshire Water partners strives in achieving efficiencies we need to successfully delivery everything within the programme and beyond including complex engineering projects with a focus on collaboration and innovation which is extremely important in driving the programme forward.

Where you fit in:

As our Inspector Electrical you will provide input into Electrical and ICA-related activities and carry out roving Engineering Site Inspections on works/projects within our Capital Programme.

You will ensure that there is a consistent and thorough approach to design and commissioning across all schemes to avoid projects moving into completion without a thorough performance and reliability plan. This will require leadership and coordination of Contract partner design through construction and commissioning. With no design experience required but a level of input and review of accepted design to provide feedback through attendance at key stages of their schemes.

You will also provide on-site electrical and ICA experience to ensure that Contract Partners follow the Engineering Specification and associated commissioning procedures to ensure Regulatory outputs are achieved and the business risk has been mitigated.

You will be responsible for technical engineering support and feedback to ensure lessons learnt from the design and installation are fed back into the Engineering Design Team and Project Management teams.


What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in identifying practical/innovative solutions to ensure the risks from a process plant are As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) with the ability to apply cost-benefit analysis where appropriate.
  • Proven experience in sustainably integrating the output from significant engineering projects into business-as-usual business processes. This applies to processes across the full asset life-cycle (Design, Operate, Inspect, Maintain, Decommission).
  • Significant previous industry relevant engineering experience on construction and installation of assets within medium to large scale industrial processes operating in regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with operating projects in accordance with the CDM Regulations and internal business Control of Work policies and procedures. This includes for example confined space entry, hot work and working at height.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts into more readily understood information suitable for a wider business audience, able to influence people across multifunctional teams throughout the business.
  • Experience of working with and liaising with external contractors and supply chain.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points and the flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region.
