Support Coordinator (Waking Nights)

Sunderland - based between Sunderland University Student accommodation over 3 sites.

Permanent, full & part time (37.5 & 18.75 hpw), rota working: 4 shifts on 4 shifts off

Pay £12.61 per hour (salary £24,664 per year) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

Want to be part of a team that are there to provide wellbeing support and guidance to students at Sunderland University. The service provides emotional, wellbeing, crisis prevention and mental health support. This service operates outside of the Universities Wellbeing Team and has made such a difference to students in the area.

Calling all night owls! Prefer staying awake and working through the night rather than snoozing away like the rest of us? Were looking for a dedicated night worker who wont fall asleep on the job. If you like the idea of no 2 nights being the same, with the alert skills of a meerkat, this is the job for you!

Typical night as our Support Coordinator

• Receiving calls from students, listening to their concerns and offering guidance.
• Offering face to face support and welfare checks in the Student Accommodation.
• Coordinating events to promote student wellbeing, from; film nights to stalls at freshers week.
• Work in close collaboration with the Universitys Wellbeing, Accommodation and Security Teams to ensure wrap-around support is available to students 24/7.
• Provide person-centred, tailored guidance to students in relation to a wide range of needs which are having a detrimental effect on their wellbeing, such as emotional support, signposting to financial support and support to access community, social and voluntary groups.

You bring

• Passion to support students to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail.
• Experience of coordinating and signposting to internal and external services.
• The ability to workon your own initiative, remaincalm under pressure and havea resilient approach.
• Recognise every student is different and youre able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to students to understand their needs.

Youll join Jodie and our Sunderland University Out Of Hours team, were super passionate about what we do! Were really proud of the service as it is the only one of its kind in the business. Were a supportive bunch and like to have cuppas and chats.

Job details

• Where were flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our students. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
• Working from 18:30 - 06:30, 4 nights on 4 nights off 8 week rolling rota.
• Although youll work nights, we do get together regularly for training and team meetings.
• Able to use technology to update outcome spreadsheets, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues and our stakeholders at the University.
• Youll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
