PA to Disabled Sailor/Sailing Support

AskJules are agents for young disabled adults who choose to employ Personal Assistants to provide their care and support.

We are recruiting Personal Assistants (PAs) on behalf of our client, a 32-year-old male who is an avid sailor and former member of the British Sailing Team. Our client competes in racing events across the country in a single-hander Challenger class boat and is looking for someone to join his team of personal assistants for these events.

Start:ASAP

Location:Guildford (GU9) with travel to Rutland

Rate of Pay:£150 Per Day - Live in

Schedule:

• Competitions occur roughly one weekend each month, with increased activity in summer

• Events can be on weekends, with possible travel on Fridays

• Efforts will be made to minimise PA requirements on Fridays

Responsibilities:

• Assist in moving, rigging, and launching the boat (no actual sailing required)

• Support our client in getting into the boat

• Help prepare sailing clothes and assist with dressing

• Perform personal care tasks

• Share driving responsibilities with the client and another PA, including potentially towing the boat (full instruction provided)

• Share accommodation with the client and the other PA during events

• Cover your own food costs (self-catering where possible)

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a full, clean driving licence (Essential)

• Previous towing experience (Desirable)

• Be calm under pressure

• Use their initiative effectively

• Be willing to engage actively and help out as needed

• Have an eye for detail

• Possess a can-do attitude

• Enjoy the outdoors and physical activities

You must be able to respect our client's privacy and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of your work.
