Job Description

GenCorr, a TRG company andaffiliate of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking a Converting Floor Supervisor (2nd Shift) to support our Alsip, IL facility. The Floor Supervisor has responsibility for overseeing the production of orders by organizing and monitoring the workflow and staff in the plant.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Execute production plans by scheduling and assigning machine crews, monitoring progress, revising schedules and resolving problems as needed.
  • Follow production schedule, make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals, while minimizing waste.
  • Train and assist Operators and Helpers with job duties, including set ups, quality, machine troubleshooting, adjustments, repairs.
  • Make sure all crew members are at their job post at the start of their shift and that they report back from breaks and lunch on time.
  • Responsible for training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Establish high morale within the department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and as needed toolbox talks and safety meetings with staff.
  • Perform quality checks and approvals on the floor.
  • Oversee temporary labor staff when applicable and make recommendations to add or reduce staff as needed.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and training.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Assist Plant Manager and Operations Manager as needed.
  • Keep appropriate management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of the plant.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including federal and/or state required environmental systems, OSHA Safety and Health rules, and standard operating procedures.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • HS Diploma (or GED) or higher.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the corrugated industry as a machine operator.
  • Experience with specific machine set up, die handling, print plate set up, operation and troubleshooting.
  • Machine specific experience: specialty gluing, autobottoms, corner tray, flexo printing, ink, and color, litho labeling.
  • Knowledge of assembly and fulfillment processes.
  • Knowledge of various paperboard stocks, board grade combinations, POP displays and printing processes.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or extended hours.
  • Strong work ethic with emphasis on safety.
