The Role

We are looking for an experienced HR professional, who thrives in a hands-on role, for our South and South West region. Its a rewarding role where youll be at the centre of significant decisions and directly enabling our future success.

Clarkson Evans is the largest electrical and solar installer working in the new build housing sector, wiring over 24,000 homes a year. Established over 40 years ago, we now employ more than 850 staff across the UK and we work with the countrys major house builders. Supporting the Head of HR in delivering an efficient and effective HR support and advisory service across the whole business, youll be the first point of contact in your region, advising on all people-related issues and contributing to the development of policies and procedures. To effectively do so, you will call on your exceptional interpersonal skills to build and nurture strong internal relationships.

Youll be used to working in a fast-paced, results driven organisation, juggling priorities, providing timely advice and guidance based on company policy, employment law and best practice.

This is a regional role covering our 12 most southerly branches that stretch from Newquay in Cornwall to Crawley, West Sussex. Youll be based from home but will typically spend four days out of five visiting the branches in your region.

Responsibilities

Providing a top-class HR advisory service to the business, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Advising, coaching, and guiding Managers on how to proceed with any absence, performance, conduct, grievance, and capability issues following best practices, and ensuring compliance with employment law.
  • Building good relationships with Managers, Directors, and Regional HR Colleagues.
  • Organising and managing all aspects of our family-friendly processes for staff in your region, including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental and unpaid leave, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Responding efficiently to ad-hoc HR related queries on a day-to-day basis, managing your diary to ensure best use of your time.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working in Human Resources in an Employee Relations Advisor role or something very similar.

You will have experience of handling a variety of Employee Relations issues, preferably with a blue-collar workforce.

CIPD qualified, you will demonstrate knowledge of legal requirements and best practice ideas be a confident communicator and skilled influencer who quickly engages with staff at all levels, building effective working relationships.

In addition, you will demonstrate:

  • A high level of attention to detail
  • A working understanding of UK Employment Law
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office efficiently
  • Resilience and an ability to work under pressure
  • A flexible approach, being able to adapt to changing requirements, including where theres ambiguity
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion

Frequent travel will be required across the operational network and overnight stays will be likely as our Electricians start early in the morning. Youll typically need to be present in the branches from 7am (sometimes earlier) but early starts will of course mean an earlier finish than for many HR roles.

We anticipate applicants will be living centrally within the patch covered, with good transport links to effectively operate across the region.
