Job Description

Job Purpose:

Management of the Warehouse Team, ensuring that it is operating in an efficient and effective manner. Ensuring theteam maintains the level of service required by our clients partners, working towards departmental KPIs whilst adhering to company policies and procedures.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

To lead, motivate and manage the performance of the Warehouse Team to surpass the team KPIs using the management information, processes & policies to achieve them.

Leading the consistent application of the Company People Management Process. This will include:

  1. Providing daily / weekly team briefings.
  2. Encouraging direct reports to contribute to continuous improvement suggestions.
  3. Responsibility for people management processes such as Return to Work interviews, probation reviews, annual appraisals, involvement in disciplinary investigations and meetings.
  4. Responsibility for the training and development of the team including performance reviews and regular 1:1's.

To maintain, improve and manage a safe working environment including the timely completion of accident investigations and any actions required. Ensuring that team members are fully aware and comply with all Health and Safety standards, company and legal requirements. E.g. COSHH, HACCP, MHE compliance.

Responsible for ensuring absence is managed effectively across the team including return to works and absence review meetings.

Responsible for monitoring and reporting of non-compliance instances with third parties.

To identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and service.

Ensure the Warehouse is tour ready at all times.

Ensure warehouse Health & Safety processes and systems are complied with.

Maintain personal and staff discipline, attendance, time keeping and staff morale.

Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times within the Warehouse team.

Adhere to and promote policies and procedures of company.

Lead and contribute to discussions within department, company, customers, hauliers and suppliers to solve problems and make decisions.

Obtain, evaluate and where applicable develop methods of producing information to aid decision making.

Liaise with HR & payroll to ensure wage deadlines and any personal issues are resolved in an efficient and timely manner.

The principal accountability of the Shift Manager role will be subject to the following Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

To support the company in helping to maintain the product, safety, quality, legality and integrity of our food safety culture.

The Candidate;

  • Proven track record at understanding andmanaging warehouse & picking/loadingperformance to KPIs
  • Experience of involvement in disciplinary,grievance, appraisal and performancemanagement situations
  • Experience of having managed a sizableoperation at a Middle or Senior Managementlevel.
  • Fully conversant with warehouse processes:Goods In, Goods out, Picking and Packing.
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safetyrequirements.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Clear understanding of systems to ensurefood safety and environmental compliance
  • PC Literate: An ability to use MS packagesincluding Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Focused on developing people through givingthem opportunities, supported by appraisaland coaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonalskills (both written and verbal).
  • Can identify and reduce process steps toimprove productivity and/or accuracy.
  • Confidence and character to persuasivelyand effectively lead the team.
  • Interest in developing themselves to take onfurther responsibility and seniority in the long-term.
