Software Engineer

Scala Engineer – Retail

Rate - £700 pd inside IR35

Duration – 6 months initial (scope for extensions)

Location – London office once a week on site

A leading retailer we work with exclusively has the need for experienced Scala and Java Engineers to join their Pricing and Promotions team. This team provides pricing and promotions data to three major units within.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain applications using Scala and Akka, focusing on building robust, scalable, and high-performance systems.
• Liaise with Product team
• Translate tech talk to business talk
• Mentor junior members

Required Skills/ Experience

• Proficiency in Scala
• Akka expertise including actors, actor systems, supervisors, routers, and Akka Streams, experience with Akka Clustering, Akka Persistence, and Akka HTTP is highly desirable.
• Distributed Systems: Experience with designing and implementing distributed systems and microservices using Akka’s tools.
• CI/CD Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
• AWS / Azure knowledge
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
