Job Description

Who we are looking for

A Data Warehouse Architect who will be responsible for designing the changes and improvements required within the data warehouse.


Working within a key team in the data engineering department, this role represents an opportunity to design the data warehouse where the day-to-day work is varied and interesting.


You will be designing items from large scale changes linked to business transformative programmes, to minor improvements requested by a single user. You will be liaising with other departments to ensure a high quality of work is produced, whilst always looking to improve the data warehouse design to satisfy the ever changing demands of the Business.


Preferred skills and experience

  • Knowledge of database and data warehouse design, including the Kimball methodology.
  • Commercial experience of data warehouse implementation, preferably in the Cloud.
  • Knowledge of the relational theory, using set based processing.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries.
  • Experience of working in a team focussed environment, delivering high quality solutions.
  • Ability to work in a continually changing and reactive environment, with a committed, flexible and can-do attitude towards work.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in the Business value of data.


Main Responsibilities

  • Developing the data warehouse design using Kimball methodology.
  • Designing the logical change data capture (CDC) required to extract data from source systems.
  • Working with the extract, transform, load (ETL) process and data warehouse developers to provide them with sufficient information to create and alter the data warehouse to satisfy Business requirements.
  • Working alongside report developers to ensure the data warehouse design optimises reports built within MicroStrategy and SSRS.
  • Working alongside other members of the team on multi-developer projects.
  • Developing an intimate and detailed knowledge of the Business data structures.
  • Developing solutions in line with departmental standards, adhering to the development process.
  • Creating and maintaining relevant documentation.
