Scientist I, MSAT Data Science (12 Months FTC)

Hobson Prior is seeking a Scientist I, MSAT Data Science for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Computer Science / Data Science or a related field and should be proficient in Python and SQL. Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, software/database/bioprocess model development, and knowledge of dashboarding tools would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• Write code that is well-documented and tested, following best practices.
• Improve existing Python scripts to enhance data input into the data warehouse.
• Develop tools to maintain data integrity throughout its lifecycle.
• Develop SQL queries to improve data accessibility for different user-groups.
• Implement dashboards to improve data accessibility across the R&D organisation.
• Develop automated workflows for existing APIs.
• Establish data extraction, transformation and loading operations for modelling efforts in collaboration with data scientists and bench scientists.
• Support models across the development lifecycle from implementation to distribution.
• Provide technical support for software used by R&D staff.
• Train users on the use of tools released for general use.
• Document all software development processes rigorously.
• Stay updated on state of the art data engineering and software development practices applicable to life sciences R&D.

Key Skills & Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science / Data Science or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of Python and SQL.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, software/database/bioprocess model development is desirable.
• Knowledge of at least one common webapp development framework.
• Familiarity with dashboarding tools such as Tableau, Spotfire and PowerBI.
