Job Description

Due to increased global growth in the business, we are seeking a Branch Manager to be part our Manchester office of ALPI UK Ltd.


The Branch Manager will be responsible for overseeing all import/export, warehouse operations and facilities management for our Manchester office.


Working hours:

Monday – Friday, 8.30am - 5:30pm (inclusive of 1-hour unpaid break); 40 working hours per week.


Salary:

£45,000 - £55,000 per annum (depending upon experience)


Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and support team members in achieving their goals and targets.
  • Line manage staff, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure efficient performance.
  • Provide training, supervision, and maintain staff training records.


Operational Management

  • Oversee import and export operations, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of legal, financial, and invoicing tasks.
  • Create, maintain, and enforce SOPs for the department, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Communicate and report internal leads to sales and customer service teams.
  • Ensure accurate quotations are processed, communicated within two hours, and recorded.
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies in collaboration with the warehouse and line manager.
  • Manage Manchester warehouse operations and maintain smooth workflow.


Sales & Customer Management

  • Supervise local sales activities, ensuring the sales team is informed and capable of delivering services that align with company objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, addressing queries and concerns.
  • Report sales activities and ensure ongoing communication with the ALPI network.


Financial & Procurement

  • Authorise and scrutinise invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Oversee department cost capture, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure value for money in procurement processes.


Health & Safety

  • Act as the senior fire warden and local representative for Health & Safety issues, ensuring compliance and good practice.
  • Carry out regular safety inspections, ensuring walkways, fire exits, and general housekeeping are safe and compliant.
  • Oversee contractor compliance with Health & Safety standards, managing risk assessments and incident reporting.
  • Maintain and inspect equipment, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Provide PPE to staff and ensure adherence to safety protocols.


Compliance & Reporting

  • Attend business and Health & Safety meetings, ensuring that decisions align with company policies.
  • Ensure timely generation of reports and submission to line management.


Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of import/export operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong background in health and safety management, ideally within a warehouse environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to solve problems efficiently.
  • Solid financial management skills, particularly in cost tracking and invoice processing.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly across all organisational levels.
  • Capable of working collaboratively in a team as well as independently with confidence.
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
  • Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel).
