Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Principal Construction Manager to join our Local Authorities account in Sheffield. This role will be based on site at Amey depot, Olive Grove Road, Lowfield, Sheffield, S2 3GE.

The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday)

As a Principal Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and on time delivery of all construction programme activities in relation to packages of works undertaken by Amey or sub-contractors. Projects will range from <50k to discrete schemes of 10 million plus.

You will be responsible for:

  • The delivery of the construction element of the Non-Core department
  • Managing the supervisory team, ensuring health and safety rules are complied with and quality standards are achieved
  • Reviewing construction plans and creating a competitive schedules for projects
  • Undertaking Principal Contractor duties and ensuring co-ordination of input from all departments
  • Ensuring quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Monitoring programme progress across all deliverables
  • Ensuring construction teams skills and training remain current
  • Undertaking performance reviews of subcontract team, ensuring safety and quality standard are maintained
  • Compiling with all relevant health and safety legislation
  • Communicating effectively with the client team reporting on scheme progress

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • This role would suit a candidate currently working in a similar position who has experience of managing major civils construction projects particularly NEC Option C with a background in highways
  • Engineering qualification minimum of HNC, or equivalent level qualification
  • Operational Health and Safety experience and appropriate qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent)
  • Must have demonstrable appropriate experience working on major construction contracts or having successfully fulfilled a role of a similar nature
  • An organised team player with the ability to communicate well with other
  • Expert knowledge of construction techniques, details and quality standards
