THE ROLE
In this position you will be part of a new, co-sourced development capability at the Bank. The delivery team will focus on the digital transformation of multiple, product-centric initiatives led by Guarantee and Wholesale Solution (GWS) into the Guarantees Portal, a Ruby of Rails built business-critical system of record for c.1.8m guaranteed loans originated through 130 lenders. You will operate within an agile development team writing, testing and deploying code with support from a Product Owner, Testers and a Development Team Lead, deploying frequently to meet the demands of a fast-paced organisation. Operating within a split team with the opportunity for rotation, you are expected to help deliver strategic outputs for the Bank which have a direct impact on the UK economy.
You will have base level technical experience, and ideally already held a position working as a developer, as well as being comfortable building and shipping Rails & JavaScript applications, while doing fully test-driven development along the way.
You will have built and deployed at least one Ruby on Rails application, and participated in workshops across all facets of DevOps e.g. Design, implementation, testing, product led.
The GWS team originates, structures and manages cash and risk transfer transactions of SME loan and asset finance portfolios. The GWS team played a lead role in delivery of the Banks Covid response guarantee products (CBILS, CLBILS, BBLS) and it continues to administrate further direct guarantee schemes (RLS & GGS). GWS also specialises wholesale funding, securitisation and structured guarantee transactions. Through our Covid programmes, there is in excess of £10bn of current exposure in addition to an expanding range of current products, as we actively work on developing our product set to deliver the Banks objectives in challenging market conditions.
