Full-time long term temporary assignment, Property License Marshall in Birmingham, August start

Your new role
We are seeking a motivated and vigilant Property Licensing Warden to conduct ward-based patrols, assist in identifying unlicensed properties, and proactively report issues arising from private rented properties. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in raising standards within the designated property licensing areas and will be essential in maintaining the safety and well-being of tenants and residents.Responsibilities:

  • Ward-Based Patrols: Conduct regular patrols in designated wards to identify suspected unlicensed properties and proactively identify issues related to private rented properties.
  • Issue Identification: Proactively identify issues arising from private rented properties on the street scene.
  • Escalation: Escalate concerns or issues not related to private rented properties to relevant teams within the Birmingham City Council (BCC).
  • Relationship Building: Build positive relationships with local residents, tenants, landlords, and partner agencies such as the police, fire service, and local councillors.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Licensing, Compliance and Complex Case Officers to address licensing issues and ensure compliance of the property licensing schemes
  • Point of Contact: Be a friendly and approachable first point of contact for citizens of Birmingham while on duty
  • Team Participation: Actively participate in team activities and contribute to the overall success of the Property Licensing schemes.
You will be starting this role on the 5th of August, if successful.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in securing this role, we are looking for candidates with excellent communication and customer service skills, with experience working in a face-to-face customer environment, happy to be working outdoors and being on your feet for long hours and walking due to the patrols. This role will also involve going to different locations around Birmingham, so driving is essential for the role, or happy to go on public transport if you do not drive. If you drive, you will need to have Business Insurance on your policy.
