About the role

We are looking for individuals to join our facilities management team, who work every day tomaintainthe safety, security, and wellbeing, of both our buildings, and teams who work in them. This team playsa key role in delivering our mission and ensuring we are compliant with government regulations.

As an apprentice,you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted aspects of workplace management such as managing welfare concerns, undertaking risk-based inspections, supporting emergency training exercises,managing,and authorising new works requests. Otheraspects includeworking with Project teams, reviewing and approving safe systems of work packs for breakdowns and maintenance, liaisingwithand supporting residential groups, and networking with customers.

The facilitiesmanagement role at AWE covers a diverse set of skills and duties, acrossa varietyof new and older facilities. One day youcouldbe working with data toidentifytrends, the nextyoullbe in a workshop solving issues for your buildingscustomers. OurFacilitiesManagement apprenticeship scheme is devised to place a strong emphasis on the practical application of the skills you will learn and the knowledge you willdevelop, ensuring that you will be well-versed with a functional understanding of facilitiesmanagement, but alsotodevelop an extensive understanding of how AWEoperates.

Our apprenticeship is a gateway into varied and broad career opportunities, and through a series of placementsyoullget breadth of experience across all of AWEs teams and functions.Youllsupport Senior Managers in delivering a flexible,variedand robust service,and as suchyoullneed to be a good team player as well asbeable to self-motivate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.

During your apprenticeship journey, you willgainthe following skills:

Entry Requirements:

  • 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths) grade 4/C orabove
  • Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as of 31st August 2025 due to security clearancerequirements
  • You must be a British National to apply for a role with us.

Location Aldermaston (Reading / Basingstoke area)

Start Date Wednesday the 27th of August 2025.

Annual leave will not be granted from 27th August until 3rd October, due to mandatory inductions and the requirement for you to complete as part of your apprenticeship. Any leave approved after this point will depend on the training provider requirements for your apprenticeship and must be agreed in advance.

Duration 2years, plus End Point Assessment
