WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

Blue Ribbon Studio (BRS) is the center for engagement and development for Nike's Design community. BRS operates as a physical maker-space and education lab, providing resources and programming for the company's 700+ Designers in three key areas: creation, connection, and cultivation. Our mission is to nurture and inspire Nike Designers through a series of offerings that range from hands-on experiences, creative conversations, to skill building classes.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a BRS Lead, Studio Technician to join our team! Our Lead Studio Technician will be responsible for managing the technical operations of the physical maker-space ranging from equipment procurement, training and maintenance, to managing supplies and inventory. They will help shape the infrastructure of expanding maker space capabilities, ensuring our tools are up to date, and our spaces are in compliance with environmental health and safety standards.

We are looking for someone who has a deep curiosity of creative exploration with a technical understanding of various methods of make. This is not a traditional workflow only role, and requires someone who is a self-starter, team collaborator with excellent follow through, communication, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate has a balance of hands-on technical expertise with operational and administrative skills to help shape and refine the technical backbone of the maker-space.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

If this is you, you will be embedded within BRS's Create pillar, leading the technical operations of the maker space. You will be responsible for training Specialists, Designers, and approved collaborators on proper equipment usage. You will help seek out new capabilities, equipment and processes that elevate the creative experience. You will support key operating functions by implementing end to end processes from procurement to training, from maintenance to divestment, and managing studio supplies and inventory from procurement and ordering to waste streams.

A typical week as the Lead Studio Technician includes diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating with external vendors or facilities work to install new equipment- from diagnostics, to scheduling, to payment. You will be working alongside the Studio Specialist team in ensuring equipment is ready and operating for studio activations and programming. You'll work in lockstep with Studio Tech to ensure daily and weekly preventative maintenance is completed. You will partner with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), space planning and maker spaces around campus to maintain compliance with Nike safety and sustainability standards. You will lead maker space inventory and organization through ordering and maintaining key supplier relationships. This role requires someone with excellent time management, and ability to juggle and prioritize a variety of different tasks.

* Bachelor's degree in textiles, materials, apparel, product design, fabrication or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Project management experience, a plus
* Self-starter with excellent organization, communication, and time management skills
* Experience with operations tools (Miro, Airtable, Sphera)
* Experience with design software (adobe illustrator)
* Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work on feet in a dynamic, multisensory environment
* Familiarity with OSHA standards, chemical safety training, a plus
