Job Description

Job Title: Field Technician – Clean Water

Location: Primarily based in the South of England, with travel to other regions as required.

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent - 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £30,000 to £38,000 per annum plus overtime (time and a half)

Night Work: 1 in 4 weeks of night work (excluding Friday nights)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Field Technician with practical experience in network operations within the clean water sector. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to expand their expertise and take on new challenges. Supported by a team of experienced professionals, you will engage in a variety of field-based activities, including main isolations, asset investigations, and water quality management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Field-Based Role: Conduct a range of tasks within clean water networks, including trunk and distribution main isolations, operability checks, and asset verification.
  • Problem-Solving: Utilise your expertise to identify and resolve issues in the field, ensuring safe and effective outcomes.
  • Water Quality Management: Perform activities such as flushing, sampling, and monitoring flow and pressure levels.
  • Network Operations: Handle both planned and unplanned work, addressing issues like pressure discrepancies, leakage, and supply disruptions.
  • Site Assessments: Use GIS plans, site schematics, and other documents to conduct comprehensive site assessments and produce detailed reports.
  • Team Collaboration: Support office-based project teams by providing field insights, preparing equipment, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, environmental guidelines, and industry regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the clean water industry.
  • Specialized Skills: Lead role in trunk main isolations on large diameter mains, with experience in valve operations and CALM Networks.
  • Certifications:
  • EUSR Water Hygiene
  • NRSWA Operative (Unit 2)
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in IT, including Office365, GIS mapping tools, PDA/Tablet use, and online reporting software.
  • Licenses: Full, clean UK driving license.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Work Attire & Safety Gear: All necessary uniforms and PPE provided.
  • Tools & Equipment: Supplied with all required tools and equipment to perform your role effectively.
