Our client, a dynamic and innovative fintech start-up, is seeking a visionary and hands-on Managing Director (Mini CEO) to lead their card payments business. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious leader looking to step into their first CEO role and drive the growth of a seed-stage start-up at the forefront of innovation in the consumer shared payments sector. The company focuses on reshaping how individuals manage and exchange funds with convenience, speed, transparency, fun, and security, making the buying experience more collaborative and financially beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a clear, ambitious strategy to launch in Q4 2024, establish market presence, and enhance product offerings within the shared payment space.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee all operational functions, including product development, customer service, and risk management, ensuring secure and seamless payment transactions.
• Customer Experience: Advocate a customer-centric approach, utilizing customer feedback and data-driven insights to continuously improve user experience and satisfaction.
• Financial Management: Lead financial performance initiatives through effective budget management, revenue optimization, and identifying new revenue streams.
• Partnership Development: Identify and build strategic partnerships with stakeholders across various sectors, including retail, hospitality, travel groups, sporting clubs, home rental businesses, financial institutions, technology providers, and regulatory bodies.
• Team Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional growth. Act as a hands-on leader committed to developing the company’s talent pool.

Requirements:

• Proven track record of executive leadership within fintech, payments, or related industries, with specific experience in payment solutions preferred.
• Deep understanding of payment technologies, regulatory frameworks, and market trends.
• Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and profitability.
• To understand how to monetise the users spending habits
• Successful experience in leading fundraising efforts.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
• Crucial to have a start-up mind set and resilience, adaptability and to be involved in all day-to-day aspects of operations in at least the early days
• Experience of scaling start-ups and in customer acquisition and retention strategies
• Experience and desire to be involved in the launch of consumer technology product/service (web/app/software/SaaS etc).
