What does a great Director of Global Operators Performance & Management do?

Four key deliverables are: (1) Reporting (2) Analyses (3) Forecasting & Planning (4) P&Ls for commercial business cases.

Daily activities

  1. Work closely with the Senior Director, Vice President and Group Vice President of Operator Channel on reporting, analyses, forecasting planning & budgets, P&L modelling and business cases, and also many ad hoc financial and performance measurement reports and deliverables.
  2. Weekly reporting of Operator partner and country performances. Quarterly preparation and undertaking Business Reviews with the Operator partners, and also Annual Business Plans.
  3. Analyses of Operator partner performances, opportunities to improve, new proposals.
  4. Prepare regular forecasts by country and by operator partner – and then work closely with central Decision Support team on same.
  5. Prepare P&L modelling for business cases of deals with operator partners and customers – and then work closely with central Decision Support team to verify & get approvals.
  6. Also work with the Senior Director to ensure standardised Channel metrics and performance measurement, and work with the regional leads and business development managers to drive consistency on global programs and Travelport strategy
  7. Liaise with the internal Global Operator Channel, regional commercial heads, Operator Success teams and the Operator partners themselves.

Periodic work

  1. Work with the Senior Director to work on Operator renewals and ensuring global consistency with the commercial model
  2. Liaise with central Finance, Tax, Company Secretarial and other internal stakeholders with regards to Operator conversion and bespoke project strategies
  3. Work with the Senior Director to identify prepare and implement effective performance and management policies and procedures, focusing on driving revenue growth and earnings
  4. Operator appointments and strategy:
  5. Work with the Senior Director to identify and introduce new distribution variants and commercial models
  6. Identify and streamline current channel commercial models including ensuring consistency around Operator remuneration
  7. Work with the Senior Director to improve and streamline partner selection strategy and RFP process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Senior Director, Vice President, and Group Vice President of Operator Channel to implement the operator channel partner strategy towards increasing market share growth, revenue, profit and brand consistency globally.
  • Monitor and ensure alignment with wider Travelport strategic objectives and ensure channel partners are included in “One Travelport”.
  • Monitor and scan for industry best practice and work with Senior Director to ensure channel agility and best-in-class Operator channel commercial practices.
  • Assist with the effective performance management of operator channel partners including:
  • undertaking and assisting with QBRs and ABP’s for operator channel performance cadence
  • ensure cross functional accountability – identify key individuals within each business function and follow up with internal stakeholders on outcomes and action items
  • assist with the performance management of underperforming operators and identify with the Senior Director strategy and way forward
  • Work with the Senior Director to ensure that commercial models and operator renewals are completed on new template Operator Agreements and commercial models. This includes ensuring consistency with product bundling and pricing, monitoring and ensuring consistency if / when commercial support is required.
  • Manage administratively with oversight from Senior Director, the channel partner selection criteria and RFP process. Monitor and build a bank of channel partners for both current and potential operator territories.
  • Ongoing review with Senior Director on potential go-to-market strategies for current territories and potential conversions and market analysis.

  1. Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Training:
  • A skilled professional who understands business growth, commercial analysis, sales initiatives, project planning, and has excellent business communication skills.
  • Must have good knowledge & understanding of P&Ls, Decision Support analyses & effects.
  • Understanding of the day-to-day challenges that sales and commercial management and the sales professional are faced with.
  • Experience of influencing at a senior stakeholder level, and confidence to interact daily with senior business leaders.
  • Flexible, agile knowledge worker who is comfortable with numerous short- and long-term accounting, finance, modelling and planning tasks.
  • A professional approach with a clear mind for understanding, organising and communicating commercial and sales concepts & targets.
  • Ability to execute on a project in order to positively affect a commercial outcome/business benefit.
  • Knowledge of financial systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, influencing and communication skills are essential.
  • Proven experience of working to tight and pressured deadlines, with outputs of a high standard.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience of working with different cultures and adapting communication styles to work together effectively.
  • Holds a Bachelor of Commerce, MBA or similar from a recognised university, and commands excellent written and spoken English.
  1. Context Environment:
  • The position will be based in Dubai and could require limited travel time in order to work with specific countries and sales teams.
  • The position is to replace an employee who will be on maternity leave.

  1. Working Relationships
  • This position reports into Senior Director of Global Operators Performance & Management
  • The role will involving interaction and influencing of key stakeholders across other departments in Travelport including, but not limited to, finance, tax, legal, product, air partners, marketing as well as Operator partners, regional sales leads, Travelport agency commerce peers, and others as necessary and required by the role.
