Senior Portfolio Management Analyst - London - Hybrid - Up to £70,000 + Bonus


My client is an Innovative, Bespoke Solutions Underwriter looking for a Senior Portfolio Management Analyst. This position is based in London 2/3 days per week and will be paying up to £70,000 + bonus!!!


Key Responsibilities

  • Help implement the Portfolio Management Framework to ensure the underwriting strategy aligns with the business plan and risk appetite, facilitating feedback between underwriting and actuarial for long-term business performance.
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive portfolio management and data visualization tools and dashboards.
  • Regularly monitor portfolios and conduct both ad hoc and in-depth analyses to understand the factors driving underwriting performance, identifying risks and opportunities. Share insights, recommend actions, and foster buy-in to enable ongoing business adjustments.
  • Provide critical input to inform, support, and challenge strategic, planning, and underwriting decisions. Assist in optimizing portfolio returns and risk management through financial modelling, tiering, creating realistic disaster scenarios, and participating in peer review and performance review forums.
  • Support the exposure management process to ensure catastrophe risks are monitored, communicated, and managed according to the agreed risk appetite and integrated into decision-making.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs and performance for senior management and capital providers.
  • Promote a data-driven culture and encourage the adoption of tools across underwriting and actuarial teams.
  • Assist with the exposure management process.


Key Skills and Experience

  • Good experience in portfolio management, pricing, underwriting, or a related analytical role within re/insurance,
  • Familiarity with the London insurance market and an understanding of the key profit drivers
  • Experience in process efficiency and automation
  • Knowledge of database/warehouse architecture and data governance
  • Exposure to predictive analytics (data science)
  • Critical and analytical thinking
  • Problem-solver
  • Data storytelling and communication
  • Building relationships and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Excel
  • Experience in developing and maintaining data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, Qliksense
  • Programming skills in Python, R, SQL
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., Actuarial, Data science, CFA, CII) are highly desirable
