AWE has exciting new opportunities for Team Leaders (Technical Authors & Administrators)

The Capability Group within the Business Transformation Engineering sub-function at AWE, are looking to appoint Manufacturing Engineering Managers to lead a team of Technical Authors and Administrators in support of various programmes. We would like forward-thinking leaders that possesses the qualities to manage a team and transform how we author and provide technical information to operational areas.

Role: Manufacturing Engineering Managers - Technical Authoring

Location: Reading Area

Salary £47,690 - £60,000 (dependant on level of experience)

What would You be doing?

You would be responsible for one of five Technical Author teams working within the Capability project to establish, integrate, and maintain local processes in Engineering at AWE. Training on the job can be provided, as required.

You will also be managing a technical team, required to maintain a technical capability that delivers critical skills and resources aligned with business requirements in delivering the integrated technical programme. Due to the classification of work, you will be expected to work on site at least 75% of the time.

Some Key Accountabilities of the roles are:

Defining and managing the team's operational plans to ensure delivery of Manufacturing and engineering Processes and their Governance
Accountable for leading, coaching and developing a diverse team of people at a local level to deliver technical and personal objectives safely and securely to meet our operational plans (First Level Leader)
Assessing staff performance, measured against agreed personal objectives and accountabilities, and taking corrective action to improve performance where necessary via appropriate management interventions
Ensuring that the work undertaken by the team and/or teams is consistent with AWE strategy, policies, processes, procedures, and quality standards
Work within Capability under Business Transformation to establish, integrate and maintain local processes in Technology Centres
Work with the engineering communities to provide problem resolution, guidance, and governance
Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and be a great team player
Ensuring direct reports (and their direct reports as applicable) are SQEP, competent and developed appropriately to meet both current and future objectives
Identification of all legislation and regulatory requirements associated with new and existing processes, ensuring compliance
Additional accountabilities for this job profile are defined and appointed through Chief Engineer Management Arrangements

We would like the successful candidates to have excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills and be able to interface between Technology Centres, PLM communities and the wider Engineering workforce.

The Key skills for the roles include:

Technical Authoring
Understanding of Licence Conditions and Environmental Permitting Regulations
Manufacturing system documentation generation
In depth understanding of Engineering business processes
Experience of successfully managing a high performing and motivated team and the ability to deal with high priority work/projects
Proven track record of driving delivery, performance, and continuous improvement
Excellent decision making and problem-solving abilities
Competence in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
A degree or HNC/HND in a STEM discipline, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent NQF level 4/5 qualification
Possess appropriate experience within a manufacturing environment (desirable)
Project Management skills and knowledge of associated tools are a strong advantage
