We are also proud to be named Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2023 Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: Position Overview: Reporting to Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered environment. You will be part of a supportive Oncology Clinic providing Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Services. You will be able to participate in continuous education opportunities and workshops to help further your education. You will be able to bring your passion Oncology nursing to the department while advocating for patients and caregivers. What You’ll Love About SHN: • New to Oncology Nursing? Part Time will receive allowance in lieu. • Employee and Family Assistance Program: Confidential counselling program that is specialized to provide service to SHN staff and their families. • Employee Referral Program: A bonus up to $2000 for referring individuals who get hired into specific Full-Time and Part-Time Permanent positions. • Tuition Assistance Program: Supports professional growth internally. • Staff Wellness Program: Best practice wellness programs to support your physical, psychological, spiritual, social health and well-being. • Wellness Activities: On-unit wellness rounding activities (such as stretching and exercise breaks) and Well-Being Wednesdays - virtual sessions to empower and inspire your well-being while at work and at home. • Best Practice Spotlight Organization: We pride ourselves in leading the way in best practices. • Our ongoing commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion Requirements: •Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario •Current BCLS and Ontario Certificate of Competency •Completion of deSouza Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification at time of hire/transfer or successful completion within 6 months of joining the department (Cancer Care and Hematology) •Completion of the deSouza Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice or successful completion within 1 year of joining the department (Cancer Care and Hematology) •Current (minimum 1 year) experience in RN acute care experience •Experience initiating IV′s and management of central venous catheters and venous accessing devices, Current experience in Oncology or Palliative coupled with experience in administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy preferred •Demonstrated critical thinking and nursing assessment skills for medically complex patient/family populations. •Ability to work in a fast paced changing environment that focuses on patient centered care •Ability to effectively apply Principles of Adult Learning for patients and families to actively facilitate treatment and education. •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills utilized as a dynamic team player •Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills •Demonstrated focus on internal/external customer service and partnerships •Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation. •Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards •Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community •Excellent work performance and attendance record Asset: • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing • Oncology certification through the Canadian Nurses Association • Ability to speak another language Accommodation and Diversity Statement: Scarborough Health Network (SHN) embraces and celebrates our community’s unique multicultural heritage and diversity.
