Job Description

Job Title: Senior Director - Legal Department Company Overview: Join our client's dynamic team at one of Canada’s leading property owners, developers and managers of retail real estate. Responsibilities: Lead a team of lawyers specializing in real estate and commercial law. Draft, review, and negotiate lease agreements, including letters of intent, lease offers, leases, and agreements for amendments, extensions, relocations, expansions, assignments, and terminations. Draft, review, and negotiate purchase offers, counteroffers, deeds of sale, easements, and any other documents and agreements related to the acquisition or sale of properties and shopping centers. Draft and review demand letters and lease termination notices. Draft and review various commercial or civil documents or agreements. Advise the operations, accounting, and leasing departments on various commercial and legal issues. Consult the land registry and the RDPRM to verify necessary information. Manage, supervise, and participate in the development of strategies for various litigation cases assigned to external counsel, including matters of arrears recovery and construction legal mortgages. Respond to internal and external inquiries and provide legal opinions on various issues arising from commercial leases. Qualifications: Law degree and membership in good standing with the bar. Minimum of 10 years of experience in real estate and commercial law. Proven experience in team management and supervision of complex legal projects. Excellent drafting and negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Bilingual in French and English. (Must have) Skills: Leadership and team management. Expertise in real estate and commercial law. Analytical and strategic skills. Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. Organizational skills and rigor.
