Why is this role important: The Pharmacy Assistant (PA) Lead will assist the Pharmacy Operations Management Team in overseeing the day to day workflow process of their department within Operations, and to ensure optimal customer service to MediSystem clients, the needs of the staff and the organization are met. The PA Lead will provide coaching, and leadership to their teams, and actively participate in providing expert support for the achievement of daily team and company objectives. The incumbent will facilitate an efficient, professional and responsible workflow for the team and ensure the successful integration of Pharmacy Assistants into the pharmacy. As a PA Lead, you will also be responsible for performing the functions of the Pharmacy Assistant as necessary, including proper fulfillment of orders. What You'll Do: Oversee workflow processes to effectively prioritize and manage team efficiency, with expertise in VBM automation and central fill operations. Lead a team of Pharmacy professionals. Act as a liaison between the Pharmacy Operations Management Team and team members, ensuring clear communication on team performance, workload, and client needs. Organize and manage workloads and priorities for the team, ensuring timely completion of tasks. Provide leadership and regular coaching to team members to improve productivity, support their development, and keep them informed about new and current processes. Meet regularly with the Pharmacy Management Team to share information, solve problems, improve efficiencies, and help develop policies and procedures for optimal pharmacy operations. Review operations and employee performance indicators, ensuring objectives are met through proper documentation. Assist in performance management, including onboarding, goal setting, regular feedback, and conducting mid-year and annual reviews. Collaborate with the Pharmacy Operations Management Team to set and achieve performance goals for the operation. Ensure appropriate staffing levels to optimize daily performance and team efficiency. Ensure the proper receipt, storage, maintenance, and security of pharmaceuticals, inventory, and company property. Oversee the integration of new team members into the organization and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment. Ensure all tasks within the operation are completed in a timely manner and according to company standards. Maintain compliance with all operational guidelines, ensuring customer service standards are met in collaboration with the Operations Manager. Ensure compliance with Alberta College of Pharmacy regulations, Health Canada, and the Office of Controlled Substances. Act as an Alternate Qualified Person in Charge (A/QPIC) as designated by Health Canada, ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations. Collaborate with IT, vendors, and hardware service technicians to optimize systems and resolve issues efficiently. Drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational efficiencies. Build and lead diverse teams, creating an inclusive and belonging workplace culture. What You Bring: A minimum of three (3) years of pharmacy work experience. At least one (1) year of leadership experience with demonstrated ability to manage teams and create a positive, effective, and rewarding work culture. Knowledge of current pharmacy operations is an asset; however, the successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to acquire satisfactory working knowledge within three months. Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly navigate various computer systems. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Excellent organization, time management, leadership, communication, and customer service skills. Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in work. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and function effectively as part of a team. Knowledge or certification in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is essential for driving continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
