Our client is a leader in their field and after a successful period of consolidation, they are now entering an exciting phase of expansion and actively recruiting for growth across all functions of the business. They are now looking for an experienced Accounts Superviosor to join them.
Role Overview
Oversee accounting records and transactions within the general ledger, reviewing documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance
Responsible for ensuring effective procedures, controls and policies are in place, whilst uncovering inefficiencies and then improving and/or creating new coding structures within the general ledger.
Provide accounting services, including reviewing journal entries for accuracy, maintaining and controlling physical records, and analysing and reconciling general ledger accounts
Participating in strategic planning and forecasting activities to help the business prepare for future growth opportunities or challenges
Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable
* Prepare the first draft monthly Management Accounts for review.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, posting depreciation, amortisation, additions and disposals
* Update the rolling 5-year cash forecast
* Prepare quarterly charity VAT returns for review.
* Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting.
* Manage all projects and cost centres on the accounting system.
* Help with preparing the year end statutory accounts.
* Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and ensure correct allocation to nominal codes, cost centres and projects
* In collaboration with the Housing teams, devise, establish, and maintain systems suitable for rent collection and rent accounting.
* Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and ensure correct allocation to nominal codes, cost centres and projects.
* Liaising with suppliers to ensure that current credit account balances and statements are kept up to date.
Skills and Experience
* Significant financial accounting experience, ideally in social housing and/or the voluntary/charity sector.
* Significant experience of handling large volumes of data within the general ledger and interpreting such data for decision-making.
* Proven ability to work effectively with, Regulatory bodies and Funders and in building effective partnerships
* Experience of working with Fixed Asset administration.
* Experience of working with Treasury administration
* Experience of using financial accounting packages and /or databases.
* Intermediate to Advanced Excel including using complex spreadsheets and formulae, and a high level of IT literacy.
* Experience of analysing management information and making recommendations to inform decision-making.
