Job Description

We are looking for a Utilities and Legionella Engineer to provide the technical expertise in the maintenance of effluent plants, pumping stations, cooling systems and towers. The Utilities Engineer is part of a team providing a Works Services, Utilities and Infrastructure maintenance and repair service to the Liberty Speciality Business.

The Role of the Utilities and Legionella Services Engineer

  • The Utilities Engineer is responsible, along with management Duty Holders, for ensuring compliance with L8 Control of Legionella in water systems for the business cooling towers and domestic water systems.
  • This position is the Business Contract Job Owner for site water treatment and legionella work related contractors. They will manage the cleaning and maintenance of cooling towers/systems that is carried out under contract.
  • The job holder will be part of the Works Services team that determine, organise and direct engineering resources to ensure availability of site services such as cooling water, steam, compressed air and gases.
  • As part of the Works Services team, they will develop planned maintenance, inspection schedules and training plans to ensure that statutory, quality and engineering requirements are met.
  • As part of the Works Services team, they will ensure that the engineering teams, specialist contractors and plant operator's activities comply with all statutory health, safety and environmental legislative requirements.
  • As part of the Works Services team, they will develop long term strategic plant replacement and improvement strategies.

Requirements of the Utilities and Legionella Services Engineer

Essential

  • Preferably educated to degree level but with a minimum of HNC in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Technical expertise of Water services and preferably also Steam generation, Compressed air, and / or piped gas services.
  • A good knowledge of Health and Safety and Environment legislation is required particularly around Utilities with an ability to implement the requirements as part of departmental operations.

Desirable

  • Experience and knowledge of the requirements and application of L8 "Control of Legionella in water systems would be desirable or be willing and capable of gaining such knowledge.
  • Experience in man management with good communication skills, and the necessary leadership skills to be able to motivate a multi skilled flexible workforce.

The Working Pattern of the Utilities and Legionella Services Engineer

  • This role is a days position Monday to Friday 8am -4pm
