Health Safety and Environmental Advisor

Location: Based from our Chesterfield Office, S40 2TZ with visits to various sites as required
Salary: Competitive, DOE + Benefits!
Contract: Full time, or part time (3 days per week minimum), Permanent

We are Concrete Repairs Ltd, a leading specialist in the repair, protection, and enhancement of concrete structures across the UK.

With a commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and quality, we are looking for a dedicated Health, Safety, and Environmental Advisor to join our team and promote a positive safety culture across the Northern and Scottish regions!

Our Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor will be responsible for the promotion of HSE awareness and compliance within the company, ensuring the highest standards are maintained across all of our operations.

As our HSE Advisor you will be responsible for:

  • Promoting a positive HSE culture by providing professional advice and assisting with training initiatives, including toolbox talks.
  • Investigating and reporting all accidents and near misses.
  • Submitting detailed monthly safety reports to the Senior H&S Advisor.
  • Maintaining the company's Legal Register of Environmental Legislation.
  • Assisting in integrating HSE objectives into the work environment.
  • Regularly monitoring, reviewing, and improving the management of HSE issues.
  • Stopping any observed unsafe work practices.
  • Conducting regular office and site safety and environmental inspections, submitting comprehensive reports.
  • Providing guidance during the tender, planning, and design stages of contracts.
  • Evaluating the competency of subcontractors and their workforce, ensuring compliance with HSE standards.
  • Advising on risk assessments and safe work methods, including noise and vibration assessments.
  • Ensuring annual safety audits are completed for each business unit.
  • Maintaining compliance with company policies, SHEQ procedures, and relevant legislation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Health, Safety, and Environmental practices within the construction or industrial sectors.

You will have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a thorough understanding of HSE legislation and best practices.

In order to be successful in this role it's essential that you can demonstrate:

  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Experience in the construction sector or similar, ideally in an H&S orientated role.
  • Working knowledge of HSE legislation and its practical application.
  • Ability to influence and promote a positive HSE culture across teams.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
