Job Description

Morson are recruiting a Subcontract Manager with a successful track record of managing a variety of suppliers / contracts on an initial 6 month contract basis with Marshall Group in Cambridge, candidates will need to work 2 – 3 days/week on site in Cambridge. The Subcontract Manager will work as a key member of a cross functional project team, alongside other key senior project roles accountable for managing and reporting all supplier and subcontractor delivery performance (cost, quality and delivery). A key aspect of this position will be to ensure that material cost is managed to the budget baseline and supplier/subcontractor compliance is managed to ensure delivery of contractual deliverables and identifying and mitigating all risks that may affect this.

The Subcontract Manager will have cross functional working experience, international supplier management experience and will have produced multi-year Category Strategies for relevant areas of spend

Responsibilities:

Supplier Relationship:
• Manage the relationship with all key suppliers across the project.
• Ensure clear alignment between Marshall and all Suppliers on all key contractual deliverables and documentation as Terms and Conditions, Statement of Work and Schedule of requirements.
• Chair regular project reviews with all appropriate suppliers invited all necessary functional leaders as required.
• Tracking and regularly review supply and supplier risks against the programme. Provide monthly status reports to functional and business leaders.
• Manage new changes to build configuration for purchasing cost & delivery impact on both inhouse & external production lines.
MRP & Schedule:
• Forecasting and mitigating problems associated with supply chain processes.
• Ensuring the right demand is in the system together with the Project Manager and Production Scheduler
• Determining stock demands based on current and future business operations.
• Liaising with the buyers determining the best time to purchase inventory based on MRP signals.
Bill of Material cost management:
• Review last 18 month Engineering changes and impact on the programs' EAC/ETC
• Reporting on obsolescence inventory value with a proposals to recoup cost.

Technical Competencies:
• Experience in project and/or subcontractor management
• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) & Material Requirement Planning (MRP)

Experience:
• Successful track record of managing a variety of suppliers / contracts
• Owning supply plans of raw materials and OEM supplied materials to a production line
• Working as part of a program team in a matrix organisation
• Managing supplier non conformance of products through a quality department
• Translating Engineering requirements into Procurement specifications when sending out RFQs for new products or up-revision of existing products

Certification:

  1. APM certified – an advantage
  2. CIPS – not essential
