Lending Director - Development Finance

My client is an established Challenger Bank with a successful Development Finance business within it.

Overview

Our Development Finance division offers creative and customised financing solutions to experienced property professionals across the UK. The team is highly experienced, has a passion for property and understands the market in all its intricacies.

Due to expansion of the business there is a requirement for an experienced professional to originate, underwrite, close and provide on-going management of a portfolio of Development Finance loans.

Responsibilities

• Originate a portfolio of high quality property development loans and client relationships ensuring that the Bank meets its strategic goals and that the Department exceeds its target financial performance.
• Full lifecycle management of deals from initial enquiries/proposals, negotiations with all parties, submissions to Credit Committee, through to loan drawdown and on-going monitoring during term. This part of the role is supported by the Development Finance Case Management team.
• Assume primary responsibility for a portfolio of customer relationships ensuring that the Bank’s interests are protected at all times and that the conduct of loans is in line with expectations through to full repayment.
• Raise and enhance the Bank’s profile and reputation within the residential and property industry through pro-active marketing, intelligent deal structuring and best in class customer service.
• Critically review the Bank’s processes and procedures on an ongoing basis to ensure that they are robust, efficient and effective.
• Develop and maintain a database of potential customers (residential and commercial) (developers) including research on their geographic focus, financial health and depth of experience.

What you will Bring

• Proven track record of successful residential and commercial property lending
• Extensive and established contacts within the UK commercial property sector across borrowers, lawyers, valuers, surveyors and other professional intermediaries
• In-depth knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, residential and commercial property development
• Understanding and appreciation of market trends and an ability to create innovative funding solutions to meet changing market opportunities
• High literacy with the ability to write clear, concise, incisive reports
• Strong analytical skills and close attention to detail
• Ability and credibility to communicate clearly and persuasively at all levels
• Demonstrable ability to work independently and with the tenacity to manage the end to end deal lifecycle
• Established network to originate through both direct and broker channels

Salary: up to £130k plus bonus and benefits

Location: London (hybrid working)
