Job Title Shift Engineer
We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious and well-established manufacturer of Health & Beauty Products. Due to their continued growth, development and demand they are seeking to employ an experienced Engineer (Electrical Bias) for their Thetford site.
The company is an established, creative, and growing manufacturer of personal care and cosmetic products including the skincare, haircare, tanning, baby and perfume categories.
They work with some of the world’s biggest brand owners, contract manufacturing household brands, and we also manufacture own label product for some of the UK’s biggest retailers.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Competitive salary offered dependent on experience.
Hours will be Monday to Friday 6am – 3pm
Purpose of the role
To ensure that all equipment, building facilities and fabric are fully maintained and repairs are carried out in a timely manner to ensure that factory output is maintained, and quality not compromised. To proactively work with Managers and staff to ensure equipment is operating at optimal output and improvement ideas are captured and actioned or the Management Team made aware.

Duties will include but are not limited to:
Support & Encourage H & S practices.
Ensure all equipment and systems are operating safely, with particular emphasis on electrical systems and switching.
Carrying out routine safety system checks (Fire Alarm & Emergency Light) and are recorded accordingly.
Manage/oversee the testing of electrical products and systems, as well as the implementation of new electrical equipment
Ensuring all equipment is serviced in accordance with the Company`s schedule, ensuring records of work carried out are maintained.
Liaising with external service providers/contractors to ensure equipment not able to be serviced internally are scheduled and recorded and they are aware of their responsibilities under Health and Safety regulations.
Both scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs should be logged, and further work required agreed.
Provide a portfolio of critical spares and create detailed stock locations, and ensure stores stock level are sufficient to maintain the machines and ordered/requested in a timely manner when necessary.
Supporting Senior Setters as required to ensure lines are ready for production and in routine maintenance tasks
Ensure Senior Setters are competent in the changeovers they carry out
Assisting in organising and maintaining full Engineering cover including Senior Setters
Being commercially aware of Health and Safety standards and requirements, including Risk Assessments ensuring full implementation is practiced.
Ensuring that all Codes of Practice are adhered to.
Looking for ways to improve Engineering processes, facilities and/or machines to ensure cost savings and better efficiencies/output.
Support the Identification and solutions to projects that will enhance the Business or Products.
Undertaking any other duties as required to fulfil the needs of the position.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Engineering qualification (for example Level 3 BTEC or City and Guilds diploma) with considerable experience in an operational engineering.
Ideally an electrical specific qualification (for example 18th Edition Electrical Regs)
Experience of working within a manufacturing environment
Proven hands-on experience and knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes.
Excellent attention to detail
Electrical fault-finding skills.
Strong manual dexterity
Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills
Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritise and to work well under pressure.
Must be honest, hardworking, enthusiastic, and reliable.
PLC fault finding skills would be an advantage
