Compliance Monitoring Officer | Financial Services | £45,000 - £50,000


My client, a medium-sized relationship bank, is seeking a Compliance Officer to lead compliance monitoring efforts. The officer will work within a small team and gain exposure to various compliance areas.


This is an exciting time to join the organisation as it is experiencing significant growth and is looking for key members to help drive its expansion mission.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing and assessments of the bank's activities, systems, and controls as outlined in the compliance monitoring plan.
  • Report on the regulatory control environment to ensure that the organisation remains within risk appetite and tolerance levels, while adhering to applicable regulations.
  • Support assessments and maintain a mapping table of the regulatory compliance rulebook against the bank’s activities, covering all relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Quality assess and report on the business records and activities of the organisation’s Private Banking and Real Estate Finance clients.
  • Ensure timely completion of all periodic and event-driven reviews by the relationship management teams, adhering to the bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Produce compliance-related risk summaries, reviewing and responding to periodic transaction reviews.
  • Liaise with internal compliance personnel regarding the application of policies.
  • Analyze transactional information to identify risks, trends, and potential irregularities.


Key Compliance Duties / Experience:

  • Comply with the bank’s conduct rules as prescribed by the PRA and FCA, including the latest sixth conduct rule: “you must act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers.”
  • Maintain ‘Fit & Proper’ status as required for the role of Senior Manager/Certification employee (if applicable).
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations set by the PRA and FCA, including the bank’s commitment to operational resilience.
  • Follow the bank’s policies and procedures as detailed in the Staff Handbook, the intranet, and other sources.
  • Manage personal and sensitive data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and associated bank policies.
  • Uphold the organisation's purpose, values, and behaviors at all times.


Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with CASS, MiFID, and trade/transaction reporting.
  • Customer Service: Understand and anticipate customers’ needs to achieve positive outcomes for the bank.
  • Problem Solving: Identify, take ownership of, and resolve issues.
  • Planning and Organising: Flexibly plan current and future tasks to ensure standards and deadlines are met.
  • Communication: Communicate clearly and concisely, adapting content and style to promote effective communication.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrate a flexible approach in all responsibilities and a willingness to embrace new concepts and ideas.
