The role:

Reporting to the Packaging Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Packaging team’s daily and weekly activities in order to meet the departments KPI requirements for internal and external customer requirements for service and quality at optimum cost, through conformance to the agreed ways of working.

This position operates in following shifts model: 4 on/4 off.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Manages the team, including shift handovers, scheduling, training, performance reviews, coaching, and motivation. Ensures effective communication and coordination across the department, driving responsibility and accountability in day-to-day operations.
  • Operational Excellence: Takes ownership of continuously improving and implementing effective ways of working. Ensures adherence to production schedules, optimizes manpower, and meets daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs (e.g., plan attainment, OEE, productivity). Actively monitors progress against plans, setting structured targets.
  • Performance & Compliance: Oversees performance management, ensures compliance with site procedures, and manages shift rotas to maintain flexibility and skill balance. Monitors time and attendance, addressing absences and ensuring the team meets business needs. Ensures compliance with all company and legal obligations, including ES, quality, and HACCP standards.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Promotes safe working practices, promptly addresses safety concerns and incidents, and ensures compliance with safety standards. Accountable for signing off on the creation of SOPs and adherence to processes and SLAs within areas like Order Management, Planning & Scheduling, Warehouse, Transportation, and Customs & Excise.
  • Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement: Collaborates with the maintenance department to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and execute process adjustments. Consistently seeks feedback, drives innovation, and leads by example, challenging underperformance and reinforcing positive behaviors. Assists with capex projects as required.
  • Resource & Cost Management: Focuses on cost optimization across all areas of the department. Improves energy and utilities consumption performance, and shares accountability for maintenance and utility costs across the department.
  • Team Engagement: Motivates the team to work collaboratively, celebrating successes and maintaining strong employee relationships.


Who we’re looking for:

  • Experience as a team lead/manager ideally in FMCG/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to manage significant change issues within the department.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Proficient in applying project management principles.
  • Capability to successfully deliver process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in managing a complex and large department effectively.
  • Act as a role model, ensuring that the department's culture aligns with the ten guiding principles.
