The vacancy
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Catering Assistant to join our team at DN Colleges Group. The successful candidate will provide a customer-focused catering service, ensuring high standards of food hygiene and excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation of food, snacks, and drinks within the on-site catering facilities.
* Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen and eating areas.
* Ensure prompt and efficient service to customers, consistently exceeding their expectations.
* Be visible and approachable during service periods, with a good knowledge of the food items sold.
* Work as a positive member of the catering team.
* Report customer requests and complaints to the Catering Manager promptly.
* Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Work flexibly with variable hours as required on any College site.
* Support the wider Estates and Facilities Department to ensure high-quality customer services.
* Undertake all mandatory and job-specific training as required.
* Contribute positively to the delivery of the College Mission Statement and departmental goals.
Professional Development:
* Regularly update your specialist area knowledge and participate in staff development activities.
* Actively participate in performance reviews and appraisals.
Essential Criteria:
* Relevant Food Hygiene Qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
* Minimum of Level 1 in Literacy and Numeracy.
* Relevant experience in a similar role.
* Customer service and cash handling experience.
* Experience in food preparation, cooking, and service.
* Smart, clean appearance and a friendly, professional manner.
* Willingness to work flexibly and undertake further training as required.
