Job Description

On behalf of NHS Blood And Transplant , we are looking for a Diversity and Inclusion Manager (Inside IR35) for a 1 Month contract based REMOTELY

Main Job Purpose
* To ensure NHSBT meets the requirements of current and planned equality and diversity legislation and NHS good practice guidance. Work strategically across NHSBT in order to develop and implement a strategy that supports the broad diversity and inclusion agenda.
* Working as part of the D&I Team, governance structures and with staff networks the post holder will have a key role in developing the expertise and leading implementation on matters relating to diversity and inclusion.
* Work across NHSBT in order to develop and implement a strategy that supports staff inclusion.
* Act as role model of NHSBT values and behaviours

As a Diversity and Inclusion Manager , your main responsibilities will be:
* Work closely with community groups (with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ inclusion as well as other protected groups under the Equality Act) and other external partners.
* Identify and project manage the work streams underpinning NHSBT's diversity & inclusion agenda, ensuring a co-ordinated approach that responds to governance strategies and ensures best practice.
* Provide leadership and advice across NHSBT in the development of a culture that maximises upon diversity and inclusion, supporting effective communication and contributing to training of staff in this area.
* Provide expert advice to and influence the decisions of Senior Managers, and staff in relation to diversity and inclusion.
* As the lead expert in diversity and inclusion, provide professional advice on the variety of diversity issues facing NHSBT, interpreting and implementing legislation and NHS directives, judging how best to take forward the NHSBT diversity agenda considering compatibility with organisational priorities and business strategy.
* Take national responsibility for ensuring best practice approach to diversity and inclusion, taking a proactive approach to anticipated changes in employment law and other legislation and human resource practice, make plans accordingly and propose a variety of solutions and options.
* Contribute to and support the development and implementation of the diversity and inclusion strategy and action plan in liaison with the appropriate governance structures and stakeholders to ensure equality and diversity issues are fully integrated into the annual and longer-term business diversity plans, service development and workforce strategies.
* Negotiate with other functional areas of NHSBT to acquire the resources and actions necessary to ensure successful outcomes of diversity and inclusion issues.
* Contribute to the Workforce Senior Management Team to contribute to strategy and its implementation.
* Develop and maintain internal and external relationships to obtain/exchange information and best practice.
* Analyse data gathered to produce intelligence and recommend appropriate courses of action for NHSBT for diversity & inclusion matters.
* To be an expert and main source of reference for diversity-related enquiries for all staff.
* Research new diversity and inclusion initiatives and put forward proposals for implementation.
* Develop a strong organisational and personal knowledge base for NHSBT to develop best practice across the diversity and inclusion agendas.
* Ensure that diversity-related policies are updated to keep NHSBT compliant with legislation.
* Work with workforce colleagues and stakeholders to update policies, benefits, staff handbooks etc with a focus on diversity and inclusion
* Monitor and report on diversity statistics.
* Manage a delegated budget for Diversity activity.
* Liaise closely with internal and external colleagues to ensure compliance and best practice of Diversity and inclusion.
* Influence and contribute to the design and implementation of diversity strategies, policies and procedures throughout NHSBT.
* Understand the diversity of NHSBT's workforce and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
* Provide advice on and review OD packages that promote diversity and inclusion.
* Design where necessary and implement surveys and other methods to seek feedback and information from the workforce.
* Foster and maintain relationships with external organisations and partners as appropriate (e.g. Business Disability Forum, Race for Opportunity).
* Ensure that you follow health and safety policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work to ensure your safety and the safety of others. Managers will address the health, safety and wellbeing of any staff they are responsible for, in proportion to the level of risk in their department and promote a positive safety culture.
* Any other duties within the general scope of the post as and when required.
