Division Information

PACCAR's Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.

The Role/Team

As a Solution Architect at PACCAR you will define solutions using new or existing technologies, and have real influence over PACCAR's business and information technology strategy. A successful candidate will be someone who is self-driven and has a deep technical knowledge in the solution integration or data domains. You will be researching and evaluating platforms, infrastructure and tools and technologies to create solutions that will last well beyond the current "app" of the day. Long term planning and execution skills are a must!

As a solution architect on major projects, you will provide expertise and knowledge to define solutions that build REAL business value while aligning with technology roadmaps that you helped create. This position is located in Lewisville, TX at the PACCAR North TX (PNT) office.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop the end-to-end System high-level design based on conceptual and high-level functionality guidelines, with a special focus on E2E connectivity aspects.

  • Designing Global Connectivity servicearchitecture, create solution model, use case identification, create sequence and activity flow /design diagrams.

  • Writing technical specifications including use cases, system diagrams, activity diagrams based on requirements; high-level requirements elicitation and analysis; writing of system-level Techno functional requirements documents.

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and communication ofarchitectureroadmap strategies to ensure that technical systems are scalable, reliable, secure, supportable and achieve Business and IT performance and budget objectives.

  • Provide leadership for projects defining solutionarchitectures that conform to existing standards or new reference standards have been developed.

  • Develop and maintainarchitectureroadmaps, relevant policies, standards, and compute models that support IT and the business goals.

  • Work with global stakeholders and be a subject matter expert in Connectivity module to research and evaluate platforms, servers, tools and technologies to support business direction.

  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in infotainment and connectivity products and also a good understanding of dependencies between software, electronics and mechanics.

  • Basic experience with Automotive Telematics Connectivity systems, cloud networks, backend database connections, system design, Ethernet, and Vehicle Networks (CAN bus).

  • Understanding of wireless communication protocols (Cellular, GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth).

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team with designers, coders, integrators, and business teams. Strong leadership and relationship-building skills including the ability to relate constructively to all levels of an organization.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information in non-technical language.

  • Experience with software development tools such as SDKs and APIs. This includes API definitions such as REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, protocol buffer etc.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of software development along the whole lifecycle.

  • Ability to work under Agile guidelines and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply tools and models to develop or improve processes and problem solve.

Education/Training

  • B.S. degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field required.

  • Six Sigma training and / or belt certification a plus.

  • Use of Visio, Lucid, or other flowchart tool required.
