Location: Remote / Pride Park, Derby (3 days remote, 2 days in office)

About the Role

As the Lead Financial & Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our financial & data analysis operations while also developing our data analytics capabilities. You'll work autonomously to provide in-depth financial insights, create sophisticated data models, and guide strategic financial decisions. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial analysis function within our growing company and contribute significantly to our data strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis and Management:

  • Lead financial analysis efforts, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for our brands
  • Develop and implement financial models to support strategic decision-making in the men's care and natural supplement markets
  • Analyse cash flow, investment strategies, and financial risks specific to our product lines
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards relevant to our industries
  • Provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive growth

Data Analytics and Reporting:

  • Spearhead the development of our data analytics capabilities to support financial analysis across both product lines
  • Design, build, and maintain comprehensive Power BI dashboards for financial reporting and analysis, ensuring they meet the needs of various stakeholders in both the men's care and supplement divisions
  • Create and implement advanced data models to support the Power BI dashboards and other analytical needs specific to our markets
  • Optimise our financial database structure, ensuring data integrity, efficiency, and accessibility for both brands
  • Conduct complex data analysis to uncover financial insights and drive business decisions in our specific product categories
  • Create and maintain dynamic demand forecasts integrating historical trends, sales team insights, and promotional calendars to optimise inventory planning and production schedules
  • Create predictive models and scenarios for financial planning and budgeting, taking into account market trends in men's care and natural supplements
  • Continuously improve and expand our suite of Power BI dashboards to enhance data visualization and decision-making capabilities for both brands
  • Specific Analysis Focus: Perform detailed Product Sales and Supplier Spend analyses. Use insights to drive strategic decisions and optimise business performance.
  • Data Quality Improvement: Identify data gaps and lead initiatives to enhance data collection processes. Collaborate with teams to implement data quality improvements and promote a data-driven culture.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with department heads to understand their data needs and develop appropriate Power BI dashboards and reports for each brand
  • Coordinate with our IT partner to ensure financial data systems and Power BI infrastructure meet our analytical needs across both product lines
  • Drive the adoption of data-driven financial decision-making across the organisation, leveraging Power BI dashboards for insights in both the men's care and supplement divisions
  • Identify and implement process improvements and new technologies to enhance financial analysis and reporting for both brands
  • You will report directly into the CEO and have input on key business shaping decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field; Master's degree preferred
  • Certifications in data analysis or business intelligence (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist) are highly valuable. Professional accounting certifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent are also desirable
  • 4+ years of experience in financial analysis, with a strong focus on data analytics and business intelligence
  • Proven track record in leading financial analysis initiatives and developing data-driven insights
  • Advanced skills in financial modelling and data analysis
  • Expert proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, data modelling, and dashboard design
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in building and maintaining complex Power BI dashboards for financial reporting and analysis
  • Strong understanding of data analytics techniques and their application to financial analysis
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional projects
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and drive complex analytical projects from conception to completion
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, able to convey complex financial concepts to diverse audiences through data visualization
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to influence decision-making through analysis

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with ERP systems and their financial modules
  • Knowledge of data security best practices in financial contexts
  • Familiarity with cloud-based financial and data storage solutions
  • Background in men's care, natural supplements, or FMCG industry finance and analytics
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, R) for advanced financial analysis
