It’s not for the feint hearted, you will work with up to 100 suppliers, to build best in class products for clients. You will need to be extremely organized and consistently communicate with many internal and external stakeholders, to deliver supplies on time and to project plans.

The Role
- Leadership relationships with all suppliers (5 key suppliers and approx. 100 smaller suppliers)
- Develop and maintain a reliable supplier base to deliver company demand, sign new suppliers when necessary
- Build an up-to-date understanding of supply needs
- Work closely with suppliers to progress orders to required deadlines
- Ensure that materials comply with company policies and customers’ requirements
- Communicate consistently with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure that suppliers have capacity to deliver to requirements
- Negotiate with suppliers to reduce costs when appropriate, including bulk orders
- Conduct supplier visits (approx. twice per month across the UK)
- Monitor and manage inventory levels
- Maintain a network of professional contacts for new opportunities for good deals
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering and Assembly teams as required
- Raising purchase orders, attend company meetings
- Line manage a company buyer to deliver excellent work
The Person
- 5 years+ procurement or purchasing experience for a complex product or industry is desired
- Experience supplying the military or capital equipment is desired but not essential
- Proactive attitude to solve challenges before they occur
- Inquisitive nature to understand how things work, this suits someone who enjoys complex problem solving
- Highly organized, strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- At least 2 years in a managerial role is desired
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (CPP, CPM) is a plus

- Contract: Permanent
- Remuneration: £45,000 - £50,000 + generous profit share
- Location: North London/Hertfordshire (Borehamwood)
- Working: 5 days in the office with flexibility offered for supplier visits
