Maintenance Operative

Undertake high standard multi-trade repairs and refurbishment activities to Brighton & Hove Public Toilets and toilets in Cityclean associated buildings, delivering high customer service and satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards. Work will be predominantly focused on visiting public toilets, delivering repairs and maintenance works.

• City & Guilds qualification in one of the trade disciplines described below or a multi trade qualification, and capabilities to undertake works from the following selection: bricklaying, carpentry & joinery, plastering, plumbing, roofing, damp proof coursing, tiling, or glazing
• Good knowledge of the building industry
• Good understanding of health and safety
• Good knowledge of risk assessment

• Good experience in the building construction/maintenance industry
• Experience of working with a range of building equipment, access equipment and personal protective equipment
• Good experience of working with members of the public

• Good written verbal communication skills
• Able to understand and follow standard operating procedures
• Able to use a PDA
• Good problem solving and initiative skills and able to apply trade skills and knowledge effectively
• Good understanding of health and safety
• Able to work well and calmly under pressure and to deadline
• Work well alone but as part of a team

• Full, current driving licence

Must be fit and healthy, able to lift heavy objects and be prepared to work outside in all conditions.
