Calastone knowledge is highly desirable



Summary: To manage all orders received in a timely and compliant fashion, ensuring execution is completed within agreed targets. Provide training, guidance and assistance to colleagues and other areas of the business with regards to execution, eligibility and pricing.

Main Activities


In conjunction and with guidance from line management, lead, motivate and develop colleagues, supporting their development, whilst maximising productivity to ensure business, team and individual objectives are being met; reviewing these objectives on a regular basis to ensure the relevant support and expertise is provided to the team.


Promote a culture whereby the Consumer Duty principles and policies are diligently adhered to and observed. Provide guidance and training to the team to ensure they pro-actively act to deliver good outcomes for customers. Challenge the team and individuals to ensure their actions are compatible with delivering good customer outcomes and provide opportunity for feedback to identify and mitigate where good customer outcomes are not being delivered.


Ensure that all orders are executed (by telephone directly to Market Makers, or by automatic routing to their Retail Service Provider (RSP) systems) in a timely fashion, at the best price, in compliance with the clients’ needs, the firm’s own regulations, the 'Best Execution' requirements of the London Stock Exchange and the FCA, thereby minimising reputational, financial and operational risks.


Ensure that all UT/OEIC/UCIT orders are executed by Calastone/Front office or by fax, in compliance with the clients’ needs, the firm’s own regulations, thereby minimising reputational, financial and operational risks.



Make recommendations for improvement to operational processes, where necessary and appropriate to the Head of Trading and Client Services Director.


Take responsibility for various administrative duties, including handling enquiries from the regulators and client complaints relating to dealing issues, delegating where appropriate to team members, including operational reports and procedures, identifying areas for improvement, where appropriate.


Identify and rectify bottlenecks and any other emerging problems, and generally manage operational risk and financial crime throughout continual reassessment of any changing circumstances. Escalate any areas of potential risk to Head of Trading.


Keep self and team up-to-date with all appropriate stock market developments, and any changes to LSE dealing rules and FCA regulations, ensuring that these are adhered to, recording all CPD.


Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market issues and anticipated orders by reading relevant publications and speaking to market makers on a daily basis ensuring a good working relationship is maintained.


Provide a source of technical advice and assistance in the resolution of dealing disputes with clients and market makers within appropriate timescales and deal with other complaints, ensuring that the appropriate escalation has occurred.


Promote a culture whereby all relevant controls and procedures are diligently employed and observed, for example, by ensuring that regular sampling of key controls in units are carried out and reported to the Head of Trading.


Assist with incoming call monitoring, providing feedback and training to develop and improve call handling skills and volume of calls.


Assist the Head of Trading with developing the team to ensure the required levels of competencies are achieved by regular assessment of the skills matrix and that individuals are fit and proper to perform the certificated function in accordance with SMCR.





PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

Minimum of 3 years experience in an investment execution or Asset Management role.

Able to proficiently use Microsoft Office packages.

Have achieved the UK regulatory qualification either as part of the IOC, Capital Markets Program or Securities Certificate.

Successfully achieved, or part achieved the Capital Markets Programme or Securities Certificate and willing to work towards completing the full qualification within an agreed timescale.

Experience of Unit Trusts/OEICs/Calastone.

Proven experience in handling enquires or complaints from the regulator, Market, LSE or customers.

Clear understanding of the Retail execution only sector and consumer duty principles.

Desirable

Good working relationships with Market Makers/Industry Professionals from a previous role.

Confident and articulate – willingness to challenge existing processes and procedures.
