The priceless pieces they create are packaged and presented immaculately at our workshop, before being promptly delivered to our clients based all over the world.


Thomas Lyte is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Machine Engraver to work in our state-of-the-art London workshop. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role represents an integral part of the workshop team, contributing to the creation of some of the most iconic sporting trophies, as well as an array of bespoke pieces, both modern and historic. As with all our workshop roles, total concentration and focus is required at all times, to ensure the safety of all personnel. This is a busy working environment and successful applicants will need to be fully conscious and mindful of the strength and pace of the machinery being operated.


About the Role:

Machine engraving - engraving silver and gold trophies, awards and other bespoke products using a Gravograph IS400 Volume machine. Preparation of artwork, setting up the engraving machine with the appropriate engraving tools and overseeing the engraving process. Making appropriate tooling/jigs to hold the work on the machine. training will be provided on using the lathe, if required. Assisting with quality control of all finished productions, to ensure highest standards. Actively contributing new ideas to the dynamic environment, working closely with staff throughout the company.


Responsibilities:

  • Machine engraving - engraving silver and gold trophies, awards and other bespoke products using a Gravograph IS400 Volume machine.
  • Preparation of artwork, setting up the engraving machine with the appropriate engraving tools and overseeing the engraving process.
  • Making appropriate tooling/jigs to hold the work on the machine. training will be provided on using the lathe, if required.
  • Assisting with quality control of all finished productions, to ensure highest standards.
  • Actively contributing new ideas to the dynamic environment, working closely with staff throughout the company.


Qualifications:

Ideally a minimum of 3 years working in a similar personalisation role, using a Gravograph machine, or similar.


Required Skills:

  • Understanding and creating templates and setting up the engraving machine
  • Ideally previous experience using a CNC machine
  • Knowledge of design software programmes, including Rhino, CAD, Z-Brush, Adobe Illustrator and an understanding of 3D printers and printing.
  • Experience using a lathe to turn jigs
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain precise standards and ensure the highest levels of quality at all times
  • Excellent judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Capacity to grasp concepts and problem solve
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management, with the ability to prioritise tasks and be commercially aware
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills
