Teradata Data Consultant
Contract – Inside IR35
3 Months + extension
Hybrid – 1-2 days p/w onsite
We are seeking a skilled Teradata Data Consultant to join our dynamic data team, contributing to a large-scale migration project for an initial 6 month contract. The role is inside IR35 and will be a hybrid role with 1-2 days a week onsite in Central London.
The role will focus on developing and managing data lineage processes while collaborating with senior Data Engineers, Data Intelligence Engineers, and the Principal Architect. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience with Teradata, be proficient in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, and demonstrate a solid understanding of data lineage, data transformation, and ETL processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Lineage Development:
Lead the identification, mapping, and documentation of data lineage across different systems to support the migration effort.
Analysis of Macros and Teradata Database Objects:
Review, analyse, and document Teradata macros, stored procedures, views, tables, and other database objects to understand their functionality and dependencies. Assist in understanding how to migrate or refactoring these database objects to ensure compatibility with the new architecture.
Complex SQL Programming:
Develop, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data efficiently in the Teradata environment. Migration Support: Work closely with the Principal Architect to understand the migration roadmap and support the team in migrating data from legacy systems to target platforms.
Collaboration:
Partner with Data Engineers and Data Intelligence Engineers to ensure seamless data transformation, consistency, and integrity across systems.
Documentation:
Create detailed technical documentation outlining the data lineage, SQL logic, and transformations to support future reference and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Very strong experience of Teradata databases, including advanced SQL programming. Data dictionary and DBQL.
- Very strong experience in data lineage, data mapping, or metadata management in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data migration strategies, and best practices for large data systems.
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts, data modelling, and data warehouse architecture.
- Ability to work with complex data sets and write highly efficient SQL queries to process and transform data.
- Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams, working with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and modern data engineering tools.
- Previous recent experience working within the Financial Services would be beneficial.
