What you'll be doing

You will manage, support and inspire a team of senior Production Controllers who with the Production Manager collectively are responsible for delivering a dynamic programme of publishing projects across a range of colour books and gifts. These come primarily from the Laurence King and Seven Dials imprints, with some additional publishing from the other Orion imprints. Central to the role is the ability to ensure the cost-effective, timely and quality production of new publications and reprints, in line with the ambitions of the company and its publishing programme. You will take the lead on your own range of production projects and you will also work on projects to improve process, performance and compliance, either on your own, on with others in the Production leadership team.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious production professional with the talent and vision to lead an experienced team and make a significant contribution to the success of our publishing business. You will have considerable experience managing a range of production projects, either colour book or gifts, ideally both. You should bring experience in trouble-shooting and problem-solving as well as a solid grounding in managing budgets, schedules, tenders, complex technical specifications and estimates. You will also enjoy making productive relationships with stakeholders across the business and will invest in high levels of collaboration and clear communication which inspire professional confidence, and similarly manage and develop excellent relations with suppliers to ensure the best service and terms for our projects. We expect proficiency with MS Office tools as well ideally experience using Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign and Biblio and a knowledge in safety testing would be desirable.

The role will be based at our London or Sheffield offices, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.
