The Role:

As the National Transport Manager, you will play a key role in managing the end-to-end transport operations across multiple sites, ensuring the fleet is operating efficiently and in full compliance with industry regulations. You will lead and develop a large team of transport professionals, including planners, drivers, and support staff, and drive performance improvements in line with the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the national transport network, ensuring all operations are efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with legal regulations.
• Manage a team of transport managers and planners to optimize route planning, vehicle utilisation, and driver scheduling.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve operational performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
• Ensure the transport fleet complies with all relevant transport legislation, including health and safety regulations and road transport laws.
• Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, driving innovation and implementing best practices across the transport network.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and make data-driven decisions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in a senior transport management role, ideally overseeing a national or multi-site operation.
• CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) holder.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and fleet management.
• Excellent leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities effectively.
